EAPCI Focus on the EAPCI Web and Communications Committee

Eugenio Stabile, Chairman

Eugenio Stabile, Chairman

The aims of this committee are to enhance the visibility of the EAPCI through web-based communications, provide an easy-to-use and updated web-based portal for scientific news, support other EAPCI committees’ activities and improve communication among EAPCI members. The committee provides EAPCI members with a bimonthly newsletter which updates the community on the most relevant information in terms of association activities, programmes, fellows courses, research grant calls and novelties presented at the main meetings with particular attention to the official EAPCI meeting (EuroPCR), the Resistant Hypertension Course (RHC) and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress.

Through the website, the committee ensures that members are made aware of news and association activities. The aims of the website are not only to highlight the upcoming official courses, to provide the most recent scientific findings, to shed light on the latest issue of the EAPCI official journal but also to provide the members with a detailed calendar of association news and events. The committee’s aim is to serve the members with a website which they can use as a working tool, which can be updated on the latest information from their association, and which can serve as a “device” capable of giving them the proper boost for their research activities as well as for peer-to-peer collaboration.

Finally, the committee is a link between the different EAPCI committees and between the committees and the members. It collects information from each specific committee and advertises this information to the association members through the newsletters.

Over the years, in collaboration with the co-chair, Pascal Meier, and all the committee members (Rodney De Palma, Dimitri Nikas, Ian Popovici, Giovanna Sarno, Alexander Wolf and Marco Zimarino), we have mapped the EAPCI visibility at national society working group level in order to set up strategies to improve the association’s visibility on each website.

The committee is constantly working to update website information and, in collaboration with the ESC e-Communication Committee, to improve the appearance of and routing in the website.

We are aware that constantly providing the EAPCI members with updated information on the association activities is a difficult task in view of limited funding and the significant burden of information to be selected.

In order to customise the website to the members’ needs and preferences, we invite all members to send comments about improvements or enquiries to [email protected]. The EAPCI is determined to maintain these efforts and to stimulate all members to consider our website as the preferred “device” to support their research and clinical activities.
